Wolves Team Match Reports

4th February 2010

Final Score - Grasshoppers 21 : Chasetown A 16

After braving the cold weather we got off to a good start with each team scoring off their centres. There were very few mistakes in the first half with Hoppers winning the half 11–10. The second half was a different game to the first with the umpires making some very questionable decisions. Hoppers did up their game in the last 10 minutes and came away with a 21–16 victory.

Final Score - Grasshoppers 13 : Molineux Synergy 12

GS - Hannah

GA - Nickki

WA - Megan

C - Debbie

WD - Carol

GD - Luc

GK - Sally

Game started slow with both teams starting with 6 players on court. Our 7th player got there 10 mins into the game and really made a difference with getting the ball out of the defence and into attack. Game was very end to end with everyone scoring off their own centres. Half time we were leading by 2 goal 6-4. 2nd half of the game everyone had settled and began to enjoy the game and kept very cool heads with the decisions which were being made. Hannah did get a little high rate when going to shoot with the umpire standing next to her in the middle of the circle but this is the fun of Wolverhampton. Megan proved she is getting more confident at WA she had a very good game with positive and accurate passing into the circle (well done Meg) player of the match.

Final Score - Grasshoppers 25 : Chasetown A 14

At last a rain free Thursday evening but very cold. Hoppers got off to a shaky start with several dropped balls and wayward passes. 10 mins into the first half we started to play and this showed by us taking the lead at half time by 12 – 7. The second half was a totally different half to the first one where we started to play as we should do. (think we warmed up by now). Our defence made some good interceptions giving us the advantage on goals as we converted the turnover’s which our shooters put away. Overall a good performance by all with hoppers winning the game 25 – 14.

Final Score - Grasshoppers 17 : Sam 2 16

Again the heavens opened and the rain came down. This was a very hard game with both teams making several handling mistakes and bad passes all down to the bad weather. At the end of the first half there was only 2 goals in it with us taking the slight lead. The second half did not fair any better with neither team being able to play the game they wanted. The second half was goal for goal. Hoppers made a mistake towards the end of the game where it gave Sam a chance to equalize and they did but we fought hard and did not give up. The game ended with us winning by 1 goal.

Final Score - Grasshoppers 21 : Whitmore M 13

What an evening to play netball! Just as we started the heavens opened. The game got off to a slow start due to the bad weather and with our opponents only having 6 players so we tried to take full advantage of our extra player leading the game in the first half by 9 – 4. With the weather easing off in the second half it gave us an opportunity to play the game we are used to. With some good passing in and out of the circle by our WA we pulled away and kept a good lead. Defence had a quiet game due to the good defending from the mid court. Overall a well fought game in bad weather coming away with a 21 – 13 win.

29th October 2009

Final Score - Grasshoppers 22 : Molineux 14

The game got off to a frantic start with each team making mistakes and getting inceptions from each other. In the first half we where in front and then they went in front with neither team taking a hold of the lead. At the end of the first half hoppers where losing 9 – 10. In the second half we made a change between our WA and GA which worked to our advantage. We started to play our game and not there frantic pace. The change paid of and we started to take a lead with some good intercepts from our defence and controlled passes from the attack into the shooters. We worked hard as a team to keep the lead we had achieved and came away with a good win.

22nd October 2009

Final Score - Grasshoppers 20 : Crescent 18

Difficult game with a lot of turnovers. The first half we were down by 5 but after getting into the game and getting used to each other the team gelled and worked hard to come back and win 20-18. The defence worked particularly hard despite some questionable decisions from the umpires.
